Wonder Valley homesteader's shack #19
There is a subculture of people who arrive at the conclusion that society is bullshit, and move to the desert to get as far away from the modern world as possible (while still having access to basic necessities). But life in the desert is hard, and a lot of the homesteader shacks that have been built in the Mojave end up abandoned after a few years. I spent a morning driving through Wonder Valley to photograph the decaying relics of people’s hermetic ambitions. This one was older than most, and it seemed like the stucco had been applied by hand, once upon a time.
